We've had this for ages, but only unwrapped the cellophane last night.

It was enjoyable, but I think I'd enjoy it more as a stage play. Some of the staging in the theatre scenes was very nicely done (I particularly liked the puppetry imagery), but the conceit of using the theatre for the equivalent of internal monologues didn't really fit, with the exception of the courtroom scene, where the analogy fits. The rest of the time, it felt like a failure of imagination, in converting a stage play to the screen.

And somewhere in all this, there's probably the fact that I haven't liked Zellweger in anything I've seen her in, and much prefer Zeta-Jones. And Gere's voice isn't really up to it.

Still, the songs are good.
