Fizzled Apocalypses

Via boing boing, an article on the times when the world didn't end. I haven't read the whole thing, but I was narked by the side-reference to Y2K, as if this was another "cranks said everything would break, but guess what, they were wrong too" thing.

I've heard this before. "We spent all that money, and nothing happened. We want the money back."

Y2K was a non-event because of the scare-mongering. Because the money was spent, fixing things (or verifying they didn't need fixing).
